IT’S PERSONAL // for Erin Clemens

It’s personal for Erin Clemens who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 25, after being told she was overreacting to a lump she found. Erin followed her instincts and pressed for more testing, which determined that she did in fact, have breast cancer. She is so passionate about spreading awareness to other young women, that she and her skateboarding bulldog, Beefy, will be traveling the country to spread the word about early detection + a healthy, active lifestyle as the best means of breast cancer prevention- check it out!

(WO)MAN’S BREAST FRIEND // Beefy the Bulldog, Skates the Nation to Help Stomp Out Breast Cancer

Beefy is an English Bulldog who spreads laughter and smiles on the streets of New York City daily as he skateboards by. He was recently featured on the hit summer reality show “Dogs in the City” on CBS, and his cute face has been used for Jimmy Choo and Clarks Shoes ads. Beginning July 18, 2012, Beefy will begin his nationwide tour in support of B4BC (Boarding for Breast Cancer), which promotes early detection + a healthy, active lifestyle as the best means of breast cancer prevention. He will skateboard at B4BC events, Music festivals, Pet Expos and skate parks in major cities across the US to raise money for breast cancer awareness, especially amongst girls in their teens and 20’s.

After Beefy’s Mom, Erin, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 25, they have worked together to raise close to $20,000 for breast cancer causes and Beefy wants to put his popularity to use by creating fun family events around the country to encourage the nation to ‘Be Healthy. Get Active. Skate!’

On Beefy’s journey, we will create a documentary to share with all of his fans and increase breast cancer awareness. For more information about Beefy or how you can get involved, go to indiegogo/Beefy-Skates-The-Nation.

FUNDRAISER // NYC // unsOund Surf

UnsOund Surf capped off their 15-year anniversary with the 3rd annual Art Show & Benefit Auction, held in Long Beach, NY. All things surf and sea dominated the evening, as artists from far and wide donated their best work to be sold in the silent auction. With so many affordable pieces up for grabs, many went home with their arms full of artwork.

Over $4,300 was raised, and a big thank you goes out to event host, unsOund Surf. We’d also like to thank the artists who donated their time and artwork, and to the community of Long Beach, who never fails to rally together for a good cause or two!

Proceeds from the auction benefited both B4BC and the Tommy Brull Foundation.

Look what’s in our Fun Bag…

Since it’s Friday, we’re pulling a long overdue Thank You out of our Fun Bag for the participants and hosts of the first ever Boobs on Boards longboard-a-thon event in Central Park, NYC.  Special thanks goes out to B4BC supporter and Bustin Team Rider Maribeth McHugh and Anh-Linh Trinh of SheRED Magazine.  NYC is near and dear to our hearts and you pulled off such a beautiful community event in support of B4BC.
